Midwife – Doctors Without Borders – Greece

Midwife

Midwives provide basic medical care and specifically in implementation and coordination of programs regarding mother and child health. These programs are carried out either in already existing health centres (hospitals/clinics) or complementary to existing health care structures.

Tasks & Duties

  • Provide, in close collaboration with other medical staff, all Sexual and Reproductive health activities
  • Inform other medical managers or doctors about any possible serious problem or complication (i.e. worsening of state of patients, problems in medicines, etc.)
  • Assist and collaborate with the field doctors and nurses when required (normal or complicated deliveries, SV cases, etc.), to complement the existing human resources and contribute to the resolution of complicated cases
  • Assume administrative procedures and documents, analysing routine data for monitoring purposes

Essential requirements

  • Registered midwives/obstetricians (in residence country)
  • Two years’ relevant clinical experience after graduation
  • At least two years of relevant and substantial work experience after graduation
  • Fluency in English
  • Advanced computer literacy

Desirable requirements

  • Specialization in family planning and STDs
  • Professional experience supervising, managing or training staff
  • Knowledge of other languages, in particular French and/or Arabic
  • Previous international experience with INGOs, UN agencies, other humanitarian organisations, charities, etc.
  • Experience working in developing countries
